Steve
Campbell is a freelance commercial
artist from Columbus, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art
(BFA) in 1990 from
the Columbus
College of Art and Design.
Having been trained in portraiture and illustration, it was only
natural
that Steve apply his sense of humor to his profession and take up
caricature!
Steve is
recognized by many as one of the
best in
the caricature business and has placed well in international
competitions. In 2001, he placed in the Top Ten in an international
Caricaturist of the Year competition, and was the first Ohio artist to
have done so. He has also been active in volunteering his
time to help other artists, having served as president of an
international organization of caricaturists as well as serving in
maintaining an online community of artists known as "The
Loop". He now
maintains the Funfaces Blog
where he shares his life and times as a full-time portrait and
caricature artist.
Doing
caricatures at parties and other
events for
almost two decades has afforded Steve with the opportunity to have a
lot of
fun, travel and meet many interesting people and celebrities. He is the
official caricaturist of the Ohio
All-Star Wrestling Team,
has done caricatures at Major League Baseball and National Hockey
League All-Star Fanfests
and has been on both
national and local TV programs. He is a regular participant at the Columbus
Arts Festival and a few select
charity functions. For years
he had over 120 of his caricatures and portraits of celebrities
on display at the Center
Stage Restaurant
at the
Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas.
In addition
to caricatures, Steve has done
some
other interesting freelance work. He has designed
safety posters for Wendy's
International and Tim Horton's
restaurant chains,
was commissioned by WTVN
radio
to
paint a portrait collage to honor
former Ohio State football coach Earle
Bruce, drew
caricatures to honor Barry
Manilow and Jane
Seymour, illustrated
books, and designed logos
for various
companies across the US.
His artwork can also be seen on other
websites
throughout the world wide web.
Though
caricaturing is the primary
business, as
the name of his company implies, Caricature
Art & More
really does
provide MORE than just quality caricatures!
